Innovative Supportive Housing
It takes a village to raise children; therefore with advocating on the local, state, and federal levels; Sankofa Intergenerational House was designed to be a vital part of the village especially for grandparents/ kinship caregivers raising children and was dubbed by grandparents as: “Miracle on 12th Street”. Sankofa House doors opened in 2008 and it’s 1st family was a 73 year old raising her two grandchildren who’re still residents. This 58 unit housing facility is an innovative intergenerational supportive housing facility designed for grandparents/ kinship caregivers raising children and youth aging out of foster care.
