Advocate for Families

Since its inception, Sankofa has worked effortlessly with Chicago families to provide supportive services to help preserve, stabilize, reunify, and keep families intact by encouraging families in their desire to have better lives, helping them to identify their strengths, and assisting them to move towards self-sustainability.

“It takes a Village to Raise a Child”

We adopt a multi-generational, multi-service approach to help reduce the numbers of families involved in the child welfare and/or juvenile justice systems.

ADVOCATE

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary – An advocate is

  • a person who argues for or supports a cause or policy
  • a person who works for a cause or group
  • a person who argues for the cause of another person in a court of law

We need your help in advocating for the parents, grandparents, guardians and children that we serve.

  • Help change laws that negatively impact foster care children and teens that are aging out of the system.
  • Help change laws that will direct more funding and resources to grandparents and caregivers who are raising their children’s children.
  • Support Sankofa Safe Child Initiative by participating in Town Hall meetings.
  • Become a sponsor of Sankofa Safe Child Initiative to help us meet the needs of those we support.
